Over 75 years after Rodgers & Hammerstein reinvented the American musical, this is OKLAHOMA! as you’ve never seen or heard it before – reimagined for the 21st century. Stripped down to reveal the darker psychological truths at its core, Daniel Fish’s production tells a story of a community circling its wagons against an outsider, and the violence of the frontier that shaped America. Upending the sunny romance of a farmer and a cowpoke, this Oklahoma! allows the classic musical – and our country – to be seen in a whole new light. Funny and sexy, dark and terrifying, “this is the OKLAHOMA! that was there all along.” (New York Magazine)

MATRIX-L'OREAL presents IMAGINATION
PRIVATE COMMISSION

Created by Grant McDonald and Rescue Agreement

In Collaboration with LDJ Productions

For Matrix-L'Oreal's annual Imagination event, we developed and executed an opening night spectacle in New Orleans, Louisiana. From on-the-ground salespeople to the executive staff, Matrix-L'Oreal celebrates the power that lies within each individual when they "Imagine All They Can Be." By collaborating directly with senior level Executives as well as their production team, LDJ Productions, we created a suprising, multi-media infused projection spectacle that emerged organically from the presentation structures traditionally associated with sales-conferences. "Imagination" told the story of General Manager Colin Walsh's imagination through vignettes detailing various individuals' struggles to overcome adversity, culminating in a weekend of audience engagement in New Orleans.

SQUARE PEG, ROUND HOLE
TECTONIC THEATRE PROJECT | BRIC ARTS

Directed by Andy Paris and Anushka Carter

Scenic Design, Andomache Chalfant | Lighting Design Bradley King

Sound Design, Matt Otto | Projection Design, Grant McDonald

From The Tectonic Theatre Project (The Laramie Project, Gross Indecency) comes a new production on the societally accepted definitions of normal. In asking people what they think of when they hear the word ‘autism,’ the array of answers received is a spectrum all of its own. Using technology, explorations of theatrical form, personal narratives and scientific data, SPRH, now titled Uncommon Sense, investigates what it means to live outside the bounds of ‘normal.’ Combining glass surfaces, intricate 180-degree projection mapping and an acute interest in a diverse mental state, we created a video design displaying what it looks and feels like to live on the spectrum.

LOUIS ARMSTRONG: JAZZ AMBASSADOR
US TOUR

Directed by Carlos Armesto

Projection Design by Grant McDonald

Making Books Sing tasked us with creating tourable, multi-panel projections that bring the iconic story of Louis Armstrong into the modern day, and devising a technological platrform that is easily transported and transplanted across the United States. Using advanced mapping technology to manipulate existing archival images into 3D "movies," we created an engaging projection experience that was both educational and exciting, while still being an "out of the box" solution for a small but reputable theatre company.
