AGMT

AGREEMENT

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

- Arthur C. Clarke

Someday, when nobody needs to be carried anymore, I suspect I will give just about anything to have these days back.

These last few months, amidst some of my favorite shows (and people) I’ve had the privilege of working on (and with), we welcomed a daughter, watched our son grow into a little person with increasingly strong opinions, and dragged two kids and a dog across Europe with all the grace of a traveling circus.

I checked off bucket-list hikes and via ferrata in the Dolomites. Meanwhile, our children and dog have already seen more of the world than I had by 30. None of them seem particularly impressed, which is probably exactly how it should be.

I’m increasingly aware that the things I once dreamed of doing matter a lot less than the people I get to do them with. And I owe so much of this beautiful, ridiculous life to my wife, who somehow makes the whole impossible thing possible.

The kids won’t remember most of these days. But I hope they grow up knowing how much we love exploring the world with them.

I’ve been lucky enough to send shows to Wembley before, which I’ve now learned isn’t remotely the same thing as standing in it while one is actually happening.

It was especially strange and lovely seeing @BonJovi make a long overdue return to the Legendary venue… who says you can’t go home? There’s an iconic band at the center of this thing, obviously, but one of the great privileges of the European run was being surrounded by an almost offensive number of icons just out of sight who were Living Proof that if you just Keep the Faith, you can make an impactful show out of coffee, elevated vegetarian, too many late nights, and whatever other Bad Medicine is required to make a show come Alive These Days.

Ciara’s MLS Halftime Show was a rapid succession of tiny decisions. You pack in all the Goodies, 1, 2 Step your way through load-in, Level Up every revision, say “Yes” more than you probably should, “Oh…” more than you planned, and then Get Up to do it all for 10 minutes in front of half a million people.

Live from New York, it’s 1000 episodes of Saturday Night… SNL has always had a special place in my heart; obviously I stayed up late as a teenager to watch, but I was also lucky enough to have my first paid “VJ” opportunity doing their after party in SoHo years ago. I can trace so many, if not all jobs I’ve had since then right back to that random night, and I couldn’t have been more giddy to finally be in the room where it happens. Even though our team was a small fraction of the rest of the exceptionally generous and welcoming SNL crew, it still took a village to celebrate episode 1000 with Alexander Skarsgård and @iamcardib:

Had the pleasure of programming the Canelo vs Crawford fight for @ufc and @netflix last weekend… apparently the most-watched men’s boxing match of the 21st century (over 41 million viewers worldwide, and 70k+ in the stadium). Casual reminder: I still don’t actually know sports.

I *do* however know how lucky I am to work with people like:
Kari Hubert // Senior Producer, UFC, who deserves double the paycheck for her talent, and triple for her patience
Bryce Kongvold & @snapback.productions // Screens Producer, dear friend & absolute screens boss (seriously… if this role model ever calls you it’s going to be a great time)

… and a *far-too-long-but-not-long-enough* list of three hotels worth of other family that made this thing possible.

Historic show, historic crew. Proud to be a few pixels of it. #UFC #canelocrawford

Breezy Bowl isn’t a concert; it’s a machine with a pulse: sharp, loud, a little unruly, and always on beat. Justin and Josh hold the reins loose enough for the wild to get in, but tight enough to land it clean. Mat’s visuals don’t decorate the space, they reshape it. Mitch’s score runs just under the skin, steady and alive, while Joey’s lasers and pyro carve moments out of thin air. Sandy and Manny light the whole thing with a painter’s hand and a technician’s edge while Josiah and the incredible video team capture it all mid-motion, turning fleeting chaos into something permanent.

Still coming down from the sparkly fever dream that was @lalalalisa_m at @coachella… like catching lightning in a bottle, then aiming it at the stage and praying it hit on beat.

Massive thanks to the people who let me be a part of this one… Parker, who makes the impossible not just doable but inevitable, to JT, who somehow remained calm while steering a rocket ship through a hurricane, and to Tyler, who paints with light like it’s a second language.

Listing everyone who crafted this insane masterpiece would be as impressive as producing the whole show (which, by the way, was brilliantly and endlessly empathetically helmed by Tony Marino) but here are a handful of folx that made it happen despite the wind, dust and incredible lack of sleep…

In a city built on flashy memories and quick forgetfulness, The 28th Annual Keep Memory Alive Power of Love Gala was a night devoted to remembering… truly remembering. It could have easily been mistaken for an awards show; a star-studded night of glitz, gourmet dining, and musical legends. But beneath the sparkle was a deeply human mission: raising money to fight the cruel brain diseases that steal our loved ones bit by bit.

From the moment you waltzed past the pink carpet (red is so last season), the Power of Love Gala lived up to its name. The guest list read like a Hollywood reunion: @jasonbateman @kristenanniebell @daxshepard anthonyanderson @itsbillycrystal @judgejudytv @earthwindandfire @therealjeffreyross (enough star power to launch a sitcom right there) all there to honor @jimmykimmellive and raise millions for KMA.

Somewhere between Kimmel’s unexpected serenade and the final trumpet blasts from Earth, Wind & Fire, I felt a lump rising in my throat. I grew up in my grandparents’ home, so I had a front-row seat to my grandfather’s disappearing memory. The same man who taught me the power of love was, by my late-teens, forgetting names and getting lost on his way home. It’s hard to find humor when someone you love fades like that, but we tried. Laughter became our secret defense against the heartbreak; it kept our family’s spirit intact even as Granddaddy’s memory frayed.

So being fortunate enough to collaborate on this gala, I realized all those comedians and performers weren’t just there to entertain a charity crowd, they were showing how joy and laughter can coexist with a fight against tragedy. That balance was the soundtrack of my childhood: tears and chuckling, hand in hand, and that is something I won’t soon forget.

To@art4lens, @tamlyndesigns @silenthousegroup, Chris Peterson, Michael Moxon, @fusetechnicalgroup , Allen Rudolf, Kurtis Kennington, @andrew_reza1, Stephen Hoyt, @jay_coke, and @alt766 … thank you for letting me be a part of it again this year. This one meant a lot.

The @cfbplayoff isn’t just about crowning a champion, it’s about throwing a party big enough to make the game feel like an afterthought. @att Playoff Playlist Live!, a weekend of concerts designed to pump up fans and possibly drown out their voices before kickoff took place in January at @statefarmarena in Atlanta.

@liltunechi, @laflare1017 and @glorillapimp got things rolling, ensuring an unreasonably high energy level for the weekend. The next night, @camila_cabello took over, joined by @mylessmithuk and @musicbyknox; two artists who, despite their effortlessly cool names, are actually great musicians (not an exclusive line of leather goods). By game day, Kane Brown and Ashley Cooke brought some country flair to the Allstate Championship Tailgate, because what’s football without a little twang?

Finally, on January 20, Ohio State and Notre Dame hit the field while fans recovered from the weekend’s musical marathon. The championship wasn’t just won… it was celebrated at full volume thanks to a long list of collaborators, but special thanks goes to:
